Sketchbook Project: number 4564

In October 2008, I stumbled across a great web site and opportunity through Art House, located in Atlanta, GA. Art House is all about community. This project is about being creative and inspiring yourself and others. They bring artists together and give everyone a chance to show in museums and galleries around the country! Through a variety of different mediums, they take collect the art then take it on the road. This project uses Moleskin 3 1/2 x 5 sketchbooks. They also do other large scale projects with canvas and paper. The theme of the show is "everyone we know".
Although this is not my typical medium, I was excited to work on this piece which continues family photos and quips as I believe (after much thought and many starts and stops!) that everyone I know. . . or everyone we know ultimately comes from the choices that my parents made. And not just my parents but their parents and my great grandparents and their parent's parents. It is a ripple effect that begins with me. It was a humbling way to think about the world. Thanks to my parents for their stories and help along the way.
The sketchbook, joining several thousand others, will now go on the road exhibiting in galleries and museums across the country. Here's where you can check out my sketchbook (number 4564) and all the others. Check out Art House's web site if you need directions. . . they would love to see you on the road!
